AFC Bournemouth and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Bournemouth have won two of their last three Premier League away games while Burnley have lost their last two league games at Turf Moor and have the worst home record in the Premier League. Also, the Cherries have won three of the last five meetings of the clubs, including the last two in East Lancashire.

AFC Bournemouth 2-1

Reason for tip

Bournemouth have scored exactly two goals in four of their last six away matches and in four of their last five matches against the Clarets. But kept Burnley at bay only twice in the last 10 meetings and, with Scott Parker’s side having bagged 13 goals in their last six home games, both teams to score looks likely. Bournemouth have only kept two clean sheets in their last 13 road trips, so the visitors could edge this one 2-1.

Tavernier To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Marcus Tavernier, who has scored or assisted in four of his last five starts, looks to be in the sort of form to exploit a Clarets defence that has leaked multiple goals in seven of their last nine games in Lancashire. He hit the woodwork twice and had strong penalty claims turned down against Brentford. He is also the Cherries’ current spot-kick taker.

Burnley vs AFC Bournemouth Predictions

  • Bournemouth have won two of their last three Premier League away games
  • Burnley have lost their last two home league games
  • Bournemouth have won three of the last five meetings of the clubs, including the last two at Turf Moor

Cherries can deepen Clarets’ tailspin

Bournemouth’s improved away form suggests they are the rightful favourites to claim all three points against the worst home team in the Premier League — Burnley — at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Andoni Iraola’s side have collected as many points on the road as Arsenal across their last four trips, beating Wolves and Everton in between draws at Brighton and West Ham. The Cherries really should have won their last home game too when they hit the woodwork twice, were denied solid penalty claims and had a goal disallowed against Brentford.

The return of Evanilson to the starting XI sparked their attack against the Bees, but Marcus Tavernier was the main beneficiary as his off-the-ball running and ability to find space gave the Brazilian a willing target for his flicks and lay-offs.

Tavernier to add to tally at Turf Moor

Tavernier, who has scored or assisted in four of his last five starts, looks a good anytime goalscorer option to exploit a Clarets defence that has leaked multiple goals in seven of their last nine games in Lancashire.

That run includes their recent 2-1 FA Cup fourth round defeat to Mansfield and a 4-3 Premier League loss to Brentford in which they fell three goals behind after just 34 minutes.

Bournemouth are not too dissimilar in their style and tactics to the Bees and will surely look to pin the Clarets’ wing-backs deep and compress the play into the hosts’ half, which Brentford did while scoring twice during a 15-minute first-half spell when they held 84% possession.

Back both teams to score in Burnley

The Cherries have a good record in East Lancashire, winning on each of their last two trips north and could secure a 2-1 win. They have scored exactly two goals in four of their last five matches against the Clarets, but kept Burnley at bay only twice in the last 10 meetings.

Scott Parker’s side have bagged 13 goals in their last six home games, so scoring is not the issue keeping them stuck in the bottom three. And with Bournemouth having kept two clean sheets in their last 13 road trips, backing a Cherries win with both teams on the scoresheet looks like an ideal way in.
