      Frosinone vs SPAL Predictions

After finishing 3rd in Serie B last year and being promoted via the playoffs, it’s no surprise that Frosinone were considered the pre-season favourites for an instant return to the second flight in the summer.

Unfortunately for them, that’s exactly what looks like happening come the end of the season in May. Frosinone lie 19th in the Serie A table with just 17 points to their name, leaving them a significant eight points adrift of safety and needing something of a miracle to bridge the gap.

That miracle hasn’t looked forthcoming in the last month or so either. Their 2-1 loss to relegation threatened Empoli before the international break made it four defeats and one draw from their last five league matches and they have still only won three times all season.

However, one of those victories came against none other than SPAL, and this is a rare opportunity for Frosinone to actually collect some points. SPAL finished just above the relegation zone last season after their promotion from the second tier, and things look like they’re going to be equally tight this year too.

The visitors find themselves in 15th position with just two points separating them from Bologna in the first of the relegation places. With matches against Lazio, Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan still to play this season, it could be a nervy time to be a SPAL fan.

That being said, SPAL did find themselves on the right end of a surprising scoreline before the international break. They managed to beat Roma 2-1 at home to end their six match winless streak, and they will be hoping to carry that morale boost through to this match too.

Away from home SPAL have only managed to win three times this season, but on Sunday they face a Frosinone side who have won none of their home Serie A games this season. The hosts have conceded 27 goals in 13 home games and kept just two clean sheets, and with SPAL scoring in four of their last five away games the visitors will be confident of getting on the scoresheet.

However, SPAL themselves have only kept two clean sheets away from home all season, and the last one of those was all the way back in October. They have shipped 17 goals in their nine away game since, so with both sides really struggling at the back we think backing Both Teams to Score is a good plan along with a 1-1 correct score prediction.
