Lazio vs Napoli Predictions

There may not be much excitement in Sunday’s clash between Lazio and Napoli at Stadio Olimpico, with under 2.5 goals looking the best bet. There have been under 2.5 goals in 14 of Lazio’s 17 Serie A games this season, and three of the last five meetings between these sides have had fewer than three goals.

Napoli are third in Serie A, five places above eighth-placed Lazio, with the two sides separated by ten points. Both teams have won more games than they’ve lost this season, but Napoli have 11 wins to Lazio’s six.

Napoli come into this match in good form, having won four of their last five games in Serie A, but Lazio are tough opponents. They are unbeaten in five of their last six matches and have avoided defeat in seven of their last eight at home.

Lazio’s 1-1 draw with Udinese kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals. It was 0-0 at half time, making it five games in a row that Lazio have been level at the break, and they scored with their only shot on target.

There is unlikely to be a goalfest here, with 12 of Napoli’s last 14 Serie A road games staying under 2.5 goals and six of Lazio’s last 11 matches having fewer than three goals.

Both teams have been solid at the back. Lazio have kept their opponents at bay in four of their last five Serie A home games, while Napoli have been impressive defensively away from home this season, conceding just seven goals in nine games.

A goalless draw is the correct score pick here. Lazio have had three 0-0 draws this season in Serie A and six of Napoli’s last eight games have gone under 2.5 goals.
