Lincoln City vs Notts County Predictions

At the start of the campaign the clash between Lincoln City and Notts County was being hyped as an early indication as to where the League Two title would finish up come the end of the season. Whilst that may still turn out to be true, the start that Notts County have made to the season suggests they are unlikely to be in the title shake up come the end of the campaign.

Lincoln, on the other hand, have had the sort of start to the season they will have only dreamed about. The Imps have won three and drawn one of their four outings in the league so far and they have also topped that off by progressing to the second round of the League Cup. As with last season, much of their success has been built on the back of an excellent defensive unit and if trends are to continue from the last campaign, a strong home record will also follow.

Given the turnover of players Notts County have had this season, and the likely amount of money they will have spent to do this, big things were expected for the Magpies this season. However, a draw and three defeats in the league and an early in exit in the League Cup means that boss Kevin Nolan is already fearing for his job. It is easy to see where the problems are for County, as they have conceded 13 times in their last four matches and have not looked comfortable at the back for some time.

The form book suggests this fixture can only go one way and that is exactly where we shall be placing our faith. The hosts strength on home soil combined with the defensive failings of the visitors only adds to out confidence, and even if County do manage to get a goal, we feel Lincoln should prove to be too strong.

Given the amount of goals going in for the hosts at the moment, and the amount being conceded by the visitors, we also expect this one to be a high scoring affair. As there has been over 2.5 goals scored in each of the last five meetings between these two sides, we think that combining our initial tip of a home win with there to be over 2.5 goals scored is an excellent way to boost the return on offer.
