Montpellier vs Nantes Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Montpellier slipped to a 3-1 defeat in midweek away at Marseille. The visitors conceded two late goals, which dashed their hopes of holding onto a draw at the Orange Velodrome and left the club sitting 9th in the table. On that same evening, Nantes were held to a third straight home draw as they took on Rennes in a game that finished goalless and won’t live long in the memory.

While Nantes reduced the gap between themselves and Montpellier to 11pts on Wednesday night, the visitors remain without a win in their last 10 league games and the threat of relegation increases with each disappointing result. A win for Montpellier could put them right back in the fight for Europa League qualification and the hosts will be desperate to end their four-game winless run this weekend.

The recent performances of both clubs suggest that we could be treated to some goals on Saturday. Nantes have conceded an average of two goals in each of their last six matches and Montpellier have scored exactly two goals in three of their last five games. There is some hope for Nantes though, as Montpellier have failed to keep a single clean sheet in their last six attempts.

We’re predicting that over 2.5 goals will be scored in Saturday’s clash and have backed Montpellier to claim a 2-1 victory over their struggling guests. Nantes have scored in each of their last four encounters with Montpellier though, and the hosts will probably need to score at least two goals to win this game.
