Chievo vs AC Milan Predictions

Chievo have shocked many this season, as they sit in the top five after seven games and they’re only outside the final Champions League spot on goal difference. With a few of the sides currently in Europe struggling, if they maintain this early season form they could claim a spot in the Europa League, or possibly Champions League. That will be tricky though, as they’ve got a tough game on Sunday night.

AC Milan are another surprise this season, although they’re hardly punching above their weight. The Rossoneri have been on a downward spiral in recent years, but Vincenzo Montella has improved things. They’re level with Chievo on points, just behind them on goal difference. The two sides have hit form thanks to some impressive defensive records, and they’ll be aiming to continue that here.

Chievo’s home form this season has seen them concede just 0.67 goals per game, while they concede from just 6% of the shots they face at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. They’ve kept clean sheets in three of their last five Serie A games at home. AC will have a tough time breaking down their back-line. However, Montella’s side have improved defensively as well.

Having conceded six in their opening two matches, Milan have let in just four in five since. They were hammered 4-2 at Napoli in their first away game, which seemed to point towards another tough season. They’ve kept two clean sheets away since that match, which has lowered their rate of goals conceded outside the San Siro to just 1.33 a game.

AC have a great chance to add another clean sheet here. They’ve shut out Chievo in their last seven meetings. The hosts have three clean sheets on the spin against the Rossoneri, with the last three meetings here finishing 0-0. That makes under 1.5 goals here very tempting, at 7/4 with bet365. Despite that defeat at Napoli, 67% of Milan’s away games have been under 1.5.

With these two level in the table, and close in their head to head record, we’re going for a draw here, which is 2/1 with bet365. It’s going to be tough for either of them to find the net judging by their defensive improvements and we wouldn’t be surprised if they both extended their run of clean sheets in this fixture.
