Chievo vs Torino Predictions
Chievo remain the bottom side in Serie A, with another defeat keeping them on -1 point. They still haven’t made up for their deduction this season, and if they can’t turn that form around soon then the Gialloblu are heading for trouble. They’re six points shy of safety already, but can the hosts return to winning ways when they host Torino this weekend? The visitors aren’t the most convincing side, and they make this trip desperate for points, with their lofty ambitions already looking beyond their reach.
Chievo lost 2-0 at Genoa on Wednesday, which came on the heels of their loss to Udinese by the same score. It seems like the Gialloblu are looking short in the top flight this season, and their points penalty is the latest setback for them. They’re heading in to this game desperate for three points, but right now it’s hard to see Chievo pulling that off. They’re certainly looking inconsistent going forward, so will they have enough going forward to punish Torino?
The visitors are looking much more secure at the back, despite losing 3-1 last weekend. They went down to a talented Napoli side, which was a blow for Walter Mazzarri against his former club. However, the ex-Watford boss has made Il Toro a difficult side to get around, and a team like Chievo are likely to struggle to create opportunities here. The visitors have been looking solid on the road of late, and last season saw them lose just five times on the road, so they should get a positive result here.
However, Torino aren’t entirely free-scoring like they were a couple of years ago. They’re much more rigid, and that’s likely to make this clash quite close. We don’t expect a high scoring affair, especially with Chievo failing to score in three of their last four games. This one is likely to be on the low scoring side, something we’ve seen from recent encounters between the pair.
This fixture finished 0-0 last term, with the reverse meeting bringing a 1-1 draw. Chievo have seen fewer than three goals scored in six of their last seven meetings at home to Torino, so we can’t see this being the greatest entertainment. We’re backing under 2.5 goals here as our main tip, while a repeat of last season’s 0-0 is our correct score pick.
