Lille -1

Reason for tip

Lille have covered a -1 handicap in their last two matches and look capable of scoring a few goals against an Angers team struggling to adapt to Ligue 1.

Lille 3-0

Reason for tip

Lille have won five of their last nine league games with over 2.5 goals in each win while at least three goals have been registered in eight of Lille’s last nine home league games and four of Angers’ last five away league matches. A 3-0 scoreline could be on the cards if everything clicks for Lille.

  • Over 2.5 goals have been scored in eight of Lille’s last nine home league games and four of Angers’ last five away league matches

Les Dogues to do the business

Lille look good to keep up their winning momentum when they host promoted Angers at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Saturday.

Bruno Genesio’s outfit moved a step closer to the Champions League group stages in midweek when they beat Slavia Prague 2-0 at their home stronghold, having previously beaten Fenerbahce there too.

Les Dogues won five of their last nine home Ligue fixtures last term to secure fourth place in the final standings and their early-season form suggests they can at least match that finish.

Deadly David can make his mark again

The key to their campaign could be keeping hold of top scorer Jonathan David, who has notched in his last three appearances for the club. David’s deadly ability in the penalty area should set them apart from an Angers side that look a little toothless in attack at this level.

The Black and Whites created little of note from their 5-3-2 system in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at home to Lens and the visitors really should have had more goals to show for their dominance, having struck the post twice.

This test looks like it will be too tough for Angers with Lille fancied to win with a bit to spare. Les Dogues covered a -1 handicap in their last two matches against arguably stronger opponents and ay be able to go one better to record a 3-0 victory in front of their own fans.
