Malaga vs Valencia Betting Tips and Predictions

It’s hard to know what to make of Valencia. They were fairly awful for two months and appeared to be sliding towards a relegation battle and their manager towards a premature exit. Then almost out of nowhere they won 4 games on the spin, thumping Rapid Vienna 10-0 on aggregate in Europe and winning league games against Espanyol and Granada. The team was playing with confidence again and looking up towards a potential challenge for European qualification via the league only to suffer a humiliating 3-0 home defeat against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday when they let in 3 goals in 7 2nd half minutes.

This will be another very tough game for Valencia against a Malaga side that are very well organised and tough to break down. They’ve only been beaten by more than 1 goal twice this season but their heaviest defeat did come at the Mestalla. They have improved considerably since then though and come into the match after solid points at home to Real Madrid and away to an in-form Real Sociedad side.

They are 1 place and 1 point above Valencia in the table and have won 3 of their last 5 at home beating good sides in the shape of Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo during that run. Valencia’s confidence will have been rocked once more by that defeat to Athletic and Neville will have to be highly tactically astute if he is to get anything here in what is likely to be a tight game. Malaga have the 2nd worst goalscoring record but the 4th best defence in La Liga and given this Valencia defence clearly has a mistake in them, backing Malaga to win 1-0 at 5/1 might be a nice move here.
