Goals galore in Montpellier

Champions League finalists Paris St-Germain can celebrate their place in the Munich showdown against Inter in some style at Montpellier on Saturday.

Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Arsenal 2-1 on Wednesday to secure their spot in the European final, have been scoring plenty of goals this season and there could be more on the way when they visit Montpellier’s Stade de la Mosson. Backing over 3.5 goals looks the best bet.

Champions Paris Saint-Germain head Ligue 1, with 24 wins from their 32 games this season, while Montpellier are propping up the table, having lost 24 of their 32 matches.

Montpellier are without a win in 13 Ligue 1 games and have gone six home games without tasting victory, while Paris Saint-Germain have won the last 11 head-to-heads with Montpellier and have come out on top in 16 of their last 20 meetings.

Both teams have been struggling defensively of late. Montpellier have conceded 72 goals in Ligue 1 this season – an average of 2.25 per game – and have failed to keep a clean sheet in 37 of their last 38 league matches, while Paris Saint-Germain have gone four straight league games without keeping their opponents at bay.

There is plenty of goal-scoring form to support over 3.5 goals. Nine of Montpellier’s 16 Ligue 1 home games this season have produced four or more goals and there have been four or more goals in eight of Paris Saint-Germain’s 16 away games.

Paris Saint-Germain can secure a comfortable win at Montpellier, who have lost six of their last eight home games in the league. PSG have been two-goal winners in 14 of the last 16 head-to-heads and a 3-1 correct score looks likely.
