Acid test for new Torino boss

Roberto D’Aversa made a winning start to his tenure as Torino boss with a 2-0 success at home to Lazio, but following that up with a positive result at Napoli looks a big ask.

Napoli are going through a bit of a rough patch by their own standards with just three wins in their last nine games across all competitions. However, they are the only side with an unbeaten home record still intact in Serie A this season and Il Toro haven’t won at this venue since 2009 – although they did win the reverse fixture 1-0 in October.

A home win is the most likely result but the best angle for this game is probably backing both teams to score. Torino look to have been buoyed by the arrival of their new boss and they have been in reasonable scoring form, failing to score in just one of their last six games, and goals at both ends has been a regular occurrence for Napoli – landing in each of their last seven games.

Napoli should be able to claim the points, however, and a 2-1 home win is the pick. Napoli haven’t scored more than twice in any of their last 12 home games in any competition, and they have scored exactly twice in eight of those games.

Rasmus Hojlund ended a three-game goal drought with Napoli’s opener at Verona last time out and he can add to his haul against Torino on Friday. The Danish striker has nine goals in 23 Serie A games this season and has four goals in his last seven games across all competitions.
