- Leipzig have won their last three league matches
- Both teams have scored in six of the last eight meetings between the pair
Entertaining affair on the cards
Two sides in very contrasting circumstances square-up in Berlin on Sunday and it is no great surprise to see Leipzig a short price to inflict more misery on Hertha.
The hosts saw their winless run extended to seven with last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Stuttgart and it is turning into a disaster of a campaign for a side who showed distinct promise at the back end of last season.
But given the attacking quality they possess through Matheus Cunha, Krzysztof Piatek and Jhon Cordoba, Hertha should be doing much better than their 15th-placed position implies and recent efforts under new manager Pal Dardai have been far more encouraging.
Hertha had led third-placed Frankfurt 1-0 in Dardai’s opening game and they were level with just six minutes left in their 3-1 defeat, while they were beaten only 1-0 by leaders Bayern despite winning the shots-on-target count seven to six.
And Hertha were well worth their point at Stuttgart last time out, suggesting they can keep things competitive against title chasers Leipzig.
Leipzig are seeking a fourth straight win but they have been successful in only three of their last eight away league matches.
With that in mind, we are predicting goals at both ends. Both teams have scored in four of Leipzig’s last seven away league matches and that has also landed in six of the last eight league meetings between this pair.
Those opting for a correct score should take Leipzig to win 2-1 – that was the score earlier in this season’s previous meeting.
