This course demands an excellent short game and there’s few in the field better equipped than Hao Tong Li. Li has shown a liking for Links golf having finished 3rd at Birkdale in 2017 and 5th at the Dunhill Links Championship last year. He’s won the 2018 Dubai Desert Classic holding off Rory Mcilroy to win that title.
Campillo is looking in excellent form, he won the Hassan Trophy at the end of April, was a runner up twice in March in Oman and Qatar. He finished 3rd at the Indian Open and has followed his win up with 3rd at the China Open and in the Golf Sixes too. There’s few players in better form than Jorge and he looks a good price to go well here.
Waring booked his place at The Open thanks to an excellent 7th place finish last week. He’s been in good form finishing 6th in Abu Dhabi, 3rd in Dubai and 6th at the British Masters which is a similar style track to this one. He looks good to challenge at the top end again this week.
Branden Grace is well accustomed to links terrain, he’s won two European Tour events including the 2012 Dunhill Links in Scotland whilst his maiden US Tour title came at the Harbour Town Links. He was runner up at the 2013 Scottish Open whilst shooting an excellent 62 at the 2017 Open at Birkdale. Grace has all it takes to win here this week.
Forrest had a great week last week at the Irish Open finishing 14th and that sets him up nicely for another good showing this week. He’s a natural on links courses and knows this track better than a lot of the field which will be a huge advantage. He played here in the 2017 Open Qualifying shooting rounds of 67 and 69.
